The Warriors dueled with Monona Grove/McFarland on Friday, Jan.17 and won by a score of 40-31.

In the 106 pound weight class, Monona Grove/McFarland’s Charlie Peterson started the competition off with a win for Monona Grove/McFarland, totaling the team’s points to six. Waunakee went on a three win stretch with victories by Brett Farrell, Mason Spear, and Connor Cutsinger. Farrell (113) defeated Anthony Ballweg in a technical fall for five points towards the Warriors team total. Spear (120) had a fall victory over Cecilia Mattox. Cutsinger (126) won via decision over Chaston Dotzauer. Monona Grove/McFarland’s Quran Dunne-Morgan defeated Gibson Guralski in the 132 pound weight class via a technical fall.

Braylon Davenport (138) put Waunakee back in the win column with a fall victory over Braedan Hodel. Braydon Barbian (144) was defeated by Austin Nickels by a 14-4 major decision. In the 150 pound weight class, Gabriel Metzler defeated Joel Karls by a technical fall. Monona Grove/McFarland went on a two match winning streak by defeating Ian Martin (157) and Sebastian Mejia-Gonzalez (165). In a 5-0 decision, Collin Uebersetzig defeated Trevor Ray in the 175 pound weight class. Sawyer Ellis was defeated by Luke Rux in the 190 pound bracket. McCoy Smith tallied a victory for Waunakee, as did Jackson Lenzendorf. To round out the event, Lenzendorf (285) defeated Deangelo Clay by fall in 4:45. Ellie Lenzendorf wrestled for the girls and was defeated by Emily Karls via fall in 1:23.
