The Warriors girls team tied for 12th place in the Warrior Women’s Challenge this past weekend.
Sophia Fisher (132) had one victory in three matches. Fisher won the first round over Larissa Vazquez (New Holstein) via a fall victory in 1:09. Samantha Bryant (Oshkosh West) and Maya Tawa (Eau Claire Memorial) defeated Fisher in the final two rounds. Tsahmaya Oniang’o (126) won in the first round of competition against Daliyla Garcia Canales (Brown Deer/Messmer/Shorewood) in a fall victory in 1:02. The first round victory would be the only for Oniang’o.
After a first round bye, Kit Alsaker (126) defeated Jazleen Fong-Baake (Marinette) via fall in 1:32. Taya Johnson defeated Alsaker in a 9-1 major decision in the quarterfinals. Alsaker solidified fifth place with victories against Peyton Kratochvill (Holmen) and Sevanna Hoyer (Brillion) in the final two rounds.
Katelyn Ottosen (138) received a first round bye and defeated Caroline Christopher (New London) by a 10-3 decision in the second round. Ottosen was defeated in the quarterfinals, but won against Leah Kapla (Pulaski) in the third round of consolation. In the fifth place match Ottosen was defeated by Emma Huggenvik (Wausau West) by 6-1 decision.
After getting two byes, Ellie Lenzendorf (185) defeated Sophia Walter (Holmen) in the quarterfinals. Lenzendorf was defeated by Brooke Huffman (Wittenberg-Birnamwood) by fall. In the third place match, Lenzendorf claimed victory against Aeryona Cronin (Lomira) by fall.
Waunakee tied for 12th place as a team with five competitors. Ellie Lenzendorf won third place, Kit Alsaker won fifth place, and Katelyn Ottosen won sixth place.
